Montessori Inspired Valentines Activities

Cold and dreary January is here! I never really get that into Valentines Day, but I have put together some DIYs and other activities for your enjoyment...and hopefully ours too! Includes Amazon Affiliate links at no cost to you.

Valentines Stamp Set

Set just a few stamps and the pad on a tray with some smaller squares of paper to simplify it a bit. You can later take some of the best pages and glue to card stock to create a valentines card. Be sure to add a damp cloth for clean up ❤ (aff link)

Heart Hole Punch!

Great for Valentines themed fine motor activity. Add to a tray with small paper squares and a dish for your hearts 💕💞 Then later you can use the hearts for pasting (aff link)

 Heart beading set

I really love this set! Set up a few beads in a dish with pre cut string, depending on your child's exposure to threading, you may want to thread a plastic needle with yarn and a stopper bead tied on the end.  If you want something more simple, try some pink pony beads instead.

Stereognostic/Mystery Bag

Use a drawstring bag or box that a child cannot see through- place items in the bag like Unfinished wooden hearts, flowers, card in an envelope, piece of candy, or other valentines items. Children try to guess what the items are by touch before taking them out of the bag. Older children may want to use a blindfold.

 Baby Loves

A really cute one- we love the other Making Faces book!

Unfinished wooden hearts

great for painting, or open ended play, stacking, etc.

 Perler bead heart -

Fun for older children, great for continuing to refine fine motor skills; don't forget the beads.

 Heart Stickers

Peeling and stick to make valentines, place on a line or outline to add a challenge.

Sticker Kaleidoscope

A really cute one for older kids to try

I Spy Little Hearts

My 2.5 year old is getting really into these Eye Spy books, this one looks super cute!

 Plasticine

Plasticine or playdough with heart cut outs

In My Heart

A little abstract, but has some good talking points/discussion starters to talk about feelings.

 Flower arranging

Supply flowers- real or fake, for children to cut. They can also pour water into the vases using a funnel and small pitcher. Don't forget to include on a waterproof tray and a cloth for cleaning up spills
